Reading, resting, wristing, and compassion
Wrist recommendations, smart threads, productivity newsletter, digital detox, removing filtered photos
Hi friend!
This week, I have been still healing from my wrist issues. Even with a splint on all week, the numbness comes back after taking it off for a few hours. I shared this with my social media channels and got so many great recommendations of things to help that is worth sharing:
Neck vs. wrist nerve issues: a pinched nerve in the neck will have sensations (or lack thereof) going all the way down the arm vs. localized to the wrist
Enable dictation software as often as possible. My friend recommended Dragon Dictation as it intelligently remembers the way we type through our words.
Putting our phone and screen as close as we can get it leveled with our heads
Get a massage therapist to work around the elbow and shoulders to help alleviate tension in the wrist
Check to see if there are inflammatory foods I've introduced over the past week
Learn to use my other hand more frequently, especially if it's my non-dominant hand

With that, I'm sad to say that my content production will be delayed. In the meantime, I am figuring out ways to get ahead on other things, including catching up on some reading, podcasts, and my move to NYC. Still learning to be compassionate with myself during this process and accepting life's lessons as they are chucked my way.
And I couldn't have put it better myself...
Not so smart threads
Google recently launched its first connected backpack in collaboration with Saint Laurent... and it really missed the mark. The backpack strap provides haptic notifications, music controls, voice navigation, camera functions, but all of this is currently achievable through our phones and smartwatches. The biggest issue I have with all of these new connected devices is when they don't provide any unique insight or helpfulness to my daily life. If I were to redesign this backpack to be more mindful, I would scrap most of the features and focus on providing backpack-specific insights. (Think: fixing my posture or informing me if I've left it open when I'm wearing it.) Try again, Google.
3, 2, 1, Go
James Clear is one of my favorite authors in productivity and motivation. He writes regularly on his blog (which I highly recommend) and as a part of it, launched a 3, 2, 1 newsletter. Each week he shares 3 ideas, 2 quotes, and 1 question that helps to kick-start your brain.
Digital detox
I am extremely guilty of having my phone attached to myself all-day long. Developing a good relationship with it has always been a struggle. Eric Barker shares four tips, backed up by research, on ways to stop checking our phones. Hint: all of them don't involve technology.
Embracing our unfiltered self
Dating website Plenty of Fish recently announced that they would be banning photos with filters applied. "Singles today are craving greater transparency in dating, with the large majority of singles wanting honest, straightforward information both from potential partners, as well as in their own self-presentation"
As always, thanks for reading!
