And then I'm off to Thailand
Headed off to Thailand, mindfulness podcast, Mr. Rogers, and how to improve our storytelling
Hi friend!
I am off to Thailand for my next meditation retreat this week. More insights to come in a bit.
Until I am reconnected with the internet, hope you are doing well and excited for a fabulous day (and weekend) ahead.
A Podcast I'm Hooked On
Discovered Gimlet's: The Pitch through a recommendation from my Apple podcast app. It's essentially a podcast version of the TV show Shark Tank. Each episode features an entrepreneur pitching their product to a wide-ranging cast of successful investors and follows up with them months after their pitch.
I'm really intrigued by some of the products and some... not so much. I recommend skipping episodes of products you aren't interested in - there are so many episodes to go through!
Mindfulness with Mr. Rogers
Hats off to Mr. Rogers for this beautiful acceptance speech from 1997. (for the lifetime achievement award!) 30 seconds into the video, he pauses and dedicates 10 seconds for the audience to think about people that have helped them get to where they are now.
If you are reading this, try the same exercise. Dedicate the next 10 seconds to think about the people who have helped you become who you are. To quote Mr. Rogers, "Whomever you've been thinking about, how pleased they must be to know the difference you feel they've made."
A Video That’s Inspiring Me
Ira Glass (host & producer of This American Life) on Storytelling: things nobody tells beginners on creative work & storytelling.
If I’m being honest, a lot of the content I am producing while on the road is not as perfect as I want it to be. The videos, my photos, this email. I have examples of what I strive to be like, but I’ve found time and energy to be my biggest enemies. I only have a finite number of it in this one-man show.
This video reassures me that it doesn’t have to be perfect. As long as I put in the time and effort, the content will come.
As always, thanks for reading!
